
Maintenance Technician
Bentley Staffing is looking for a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our client’s expanding maintenance team in Kingston. Our client oversees a multi-unit building designed for student living. This position is vital for maintaining and enhancing the value of the student apartment community. The ideal candidate will manage maintenance tasks with professionalism, efficiency, and respect.
Start Date: As soon as possible
Hourly Rate: $24.00/hour
Benefits: Full benefits package + 4 weeks paid vacation
Hours of Work: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible). Scheduled on-call rotation. A $75.00 cell phone stipend is provided, along with overtime pay when called out.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete service requests and repairs thoroughly, efficiently, and on time.
- Perform scheduled equipment maintenance based on manufacturer guidelines.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and hazard communication protocols.
- Regular inspections of the property should be conducted to identify and minimize risks.
- Participate actively in the daily cleanup of the property’s exterior, including grounds, breezeways, and all common areas.
- Willingly participate in on-call rotation for emergency service to ensure round-the-clock support.
- Monitor and manage inventory of tools, parts, equipment, and supplies.
- Support and follow the preventive maintenance schedule.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to the overall upkeep of the community.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe while following company policies and procedures.
- Resolve resident concerns quickly and professionally.
- Support residents during move-in and move-out as needed.
- Help maintain the property to meet company standards.
- Communicate effectively with residents, team members, vendors, and supervisors.
- Consistently deliver excellent customer service.
- Approach all additional tasks and responsibilities with a proactive and can-do attitude.
Requirements:
- Candidates must be proficient in diagnosing and assisting with the repair of various systems and areas, including but not limited to major appliances, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, drywall, carpentry, gutters, painting, landscaping, foundation/sidewalk repairs, and ice/snow removal.
- The role involves using general maintenance equipment—such as hand tools, ladders, refrigerant recovery units, and safety equipment—while maintaining the highest safety standards.
- Proper safety equipment and apparel, including work boots, must be worn at all times.
- Due to the on-call emergency requirement, candidates must live within 49 km of the assigned property and have reliable transportation.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
