Procurement Officer – 1 year maternity leave contract

Our client who is an ISO certified global brand, well known for the superior quality and reliability of its products is hiring a  full-time Procurement Co-Ordinator for a 1 year maternity leave contract.  There is a strong possibility of hiring the chosen candidate on permanently at the end of the 1 year contract with a full benefit package.

START DATE:  within the next two weeks

HOURS OF WORK:  Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, with 1 hour for lunch

RATE OF PAY: $28.00 to $30.00 p/h

DUTIES:

  • Issue & Track Purchase Order deliveries on a regular basis to ensure delivery on time
  • Research alternate vendors for regularly used items where possible
  • Find suppliers and evaluate for quality and price
  • Maintain a database of approved suppliers
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors
  • Negotiate lower pricing, track pricing and notify Management Team of changes
  • Maintain, review and update lists of critical parts and materials
  • Review minimum order quantity and ensure inventory levels are adequately maintained keeping in mind existing orders and supply chain risks
  • Check Bills of Materials for completeness
  • Review completed/closed BOM.  Note any vendor or delivery related issues in CC/NC log
  • Ensure invoices are received from vendors on time and in accordance with quote and PO
  • Obtaining multiple bids
  • Ability to work as part of a team environment.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior procurement experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Strong organizational and communications skills
  • Excellent computer skills – experience with Office 360 an asset
  • Ability to work remotely during the pandemic (temporarily) until it is safe to return to the office in Port Hope
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Detail orientated
